Over twenty years of experience that benefits you.

One of the best things that I enjoy about being a doctor are the many personal relationships that I have developed over the years. I have been able to grow and learn while giving the best information possible to help maintain good help. These collective experiences have helped me to become a better person and doctor while existing in our turbulent healthcare world. Two of our wellness products have collectively been able to capture this concept and provide a way for may people to stay healthy. Our Medschool4people helps to learn lifestyle skills to help prevent disease by education and also provide ways to help manage diseases and prevent complication. Recent experiences have reminded me why this product is important. This online digital tool helps to prevent diabetes, fatty liver disease, high blood pressure and other issues. At the same time it helps to educate and help also to prevent complications. A really good part of this focuses on diet, nutrition and their contribution to disease and teaches you how to better understand what you are eating. It includes over 25 videos that are added to throughout the year and are short and to the point.  For any patients or others, there is a special that the office will be offering that will combine this product and our MEDIDOC tool to those that want to benefit from it. This tool are flash cards of important health information and help you better understand your lab results and other health related items that have been found to be helpful. Both tools can be used at the convenience of the individual and make a difference in helping to maintain health. COVID19, Mistrust and Making a decision about the Vaccine.

COVID 19 has changed our lives and we all an not wait for a return to something that resembles our past lives. At the time of this post we approach 200,000 lives lost to the virus with predictions of many more deaths to come in the US. Worldwide we have 30 million cases and approach 1 million deaths.  Most of us have been touched with the loss of a loved one or someone who has fallen  to this disease. Each day as the pandemic continues brings us all closer to the possibility of contracting the infection. Black and Brown people because of many reasons continue to be at high risk and on the front lines of the disease. As talk of a vaccine become more realistic front line workers and people of color have the most to gain but are the least to participate in studies and to take the vaccine when available. There are many reasons for this including mistrust and the politicization of the vaccine not to mention management of the pandemic overall. More than anything, we need accurate and trustworthy sources for information as we make informed decisions about the COVID19 vaccine. Attached here are (2) you tube videos of a recent town hall with information from historically black health care institutions and those familiar with the methodology to developing effective and safe vaccines. After viewing them I believe you will be better informed on what you need to do to stay healthy.

I have looked in the face and had long discussions in my office about the vaccine and continue to believe that we need to be involved in the trials and when there is a safe vaccine we need to strongly consider taking it.

Telemedicine visits are becoming the new normal

Telemedicine visits are becoming the new normal. The pandemic will make this an even more important tool to gain access to your healthcare team. As telemedicine visits become more common, it will be important to understand the risks and benefits of this new opportunity to safely and efficiently receive the care you or your loved one needs. More importantly, it will be imperative that one receives the best available care possible with telemedicine. Telemedicine visits complement the available opportunities to see your doctor and must be used appropriately.

At the start of the pandemic, we were seeing all of our patients via our telemedicine platform. This was reflected around the entire country. Now that things are better understood, telemedicine continues at a high level. Patients have been able to benefit from this new service and it has been interesting to see just how easy it has been to use the system. This includes, young, old and even those that are not comfortable with technology. Most have been seen for management of chronic medical issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, allergies and heart issues. Review of lab work, consultations, acute pain and refills are some other reasons that are commonly used with telemedicine.

College football cancelling fall football because of the Coronavirus

As much as college football is important, it is not worth the loss of life. Recent college decisions to not play football this fall were very controversial. History should show that this was the right choice. Did you think this was a good decision?

PPE Equipment Shortages and testing

PPE equipment is once again becoming difficult to get not to mention expensive and testing also is becoming a challenge. Both will be important to help control and defeat the virus.

Lets all make the right decisions as students prepare to return to school. We must make sure that they are as safe as possible and that there is evidence that supports our plan of action.

Stay Safe and remember the following

Med School 4 People has arrived

Med school 4 people has arrived!  Start improving your health today. Over the past twenty years it has become more and more apparent that so much of our ability to be healthy starts and ends with education. That is why it is an honor to share with you our new Med School 4 People program. This program has a goal of helping to prevent, treat and maintain our common health issues. This is done by videos that are customized and combined with internet based videos that are entertaining and to the point. These videos are available 24/7.  There are also virtual sessions to support these videos. This program will help also to improve awareness and when possible help to minimize the need for medicine and importantly, to avoid complications of diseases.

Whether we like it or not, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney failure and liver disease are not going anywhere. We have to actively take ownership of our health every day.

This program combines the common health challenges that we face on a day to day basis and gives us the information we need to be more proactive about promoting and preventing health. It also examines those common causes of disease and death to give an opportunity for us all to live a longer and healthy life. The videos are made to be long enough to get the point across and not take up too much time.

Coronavirus Pandemic 2020

It feels like a dream or a movie but sadly this pandemic is for real. Across the world, lives  have been lost and forever changed. Our health care system is exhausted and continues to provide the best care possible under the current situation. Many of us know of someone adversely affected by this terrible virus. We all will find a new normal when it comes to work, travel, finances, recreation and our everyday life.  Make sure to follow local and state recommendations. Take a moment to reach out to someone that may need your help or just need to hear your voice.

Our country has made significant adjustments to better meet the needs of us all. From increasing capacity to producing ventilators and hospital beds, we are better prepared for the increasing cases that are overloading our hospitals. Personal Protective Equipment also called PPE supplies continue to be a challenge but things are getting   better. These products are needed and save lives and we must make sure our healthcare team has the needed supplies for their safety and patient safety.

Here in Maryland, testing is more available as we see our cases and deaths continuing to be significantly higher but improving also.  The governor has shared his plan for our recovery and we must be vigilant going forward as we return to some normalcy.

We will continue to update you on the availability of any testing and the locations that are available for you. This is a reminder that we continue to be open and are glad to be able to provide telemedicine services. Be safe out there.
